Born 1967 in Riga (Latvia), studied Film at the National Filmschool VGIK, Moscow. He worked as a film critics for the daily newspaper "Pravda". In the 90's he immigrated to Poland and became assistant director of Baranowski, Kieslowski and Polanski.
